Evolution Project from Lauren Thompson on Vimeo.
Project Summary:
For this project, we had the opportunity to tell a biological story. There were 3 choices for video content. This story was to be completed in iMovie within class. Five hours were given to make a proposal research and complete the video script, visuals and editing. As much time needed outside of class was for us to figure out because we only got 5 hours of class work time. The work on the Digital Stories began 4/9. They were due for a grade and final critique on 4/18. The videos were then shown in class and graded for content on 4/21. There were specific requirements in which we had to follow. Such as:
Had to include a script (of the video)
Had to be between 2-4 minutes (This was also how long are script was as well)
We had to use two tracks with images and voice over (of me) to describe the topic.
All main words from script (voice over) needed to correspond to the images we used from online.
We could only use pictures & images, absolutely no video footage.
We were able to choose from 3 different choices. These choices were:
Choice #1: A profile of what evolution was, how it has been studied, examples of micro and macro evolution, why it is shown to be a valid scientific theory & why scientific theories represent truth in understanding.
Choice #2: A story that paralleled the book that we created for the kindergarteners that tells about the web and organism interactions that took place in the San Dieguito Watershed. All organisms included in our book must have been included in the final video.
Choice #3: A story that teaches about how animals and plants evolved together in the San Dieguito Watershed or off the coast of San Diego. The story must have included a profile of 1 animal, its evolutionary history and phylogenetic info and was graded on accuracy. This choice was meant for a challenge as the information was researched on your own.
