Well I have an interesting case. I am very interested in the Medical field which as many of you know it is in very high demand. Which means it is very hard for me to find a possible internship somewhere. Anyways I was beginning to become very stressed out because I was cutting it close with deadlines. I am very fortunate and blessed to be part of YLHC (Young Leaders in Healthcare) and not only be a part of it. I am the president of the club! Anyways just this month of April our meeting was on Orthopedic Surgery and we were fortunate enough to be able to have Dr.Serge Kaska whom is a very well known Orthopedic Surgeon. We did synthetic bone reconstruction and I just had the urge to just go up and ask him if I could possibly intern with him. Once I asked he didn't hesitate to say no, which is so amazing! Such a weight lifted off my shoulder. Now I am just hoping everything falls through unlike the other internship I was looking into. I am super excited for this opportunity that Dr.Kaska has given me.
I am super excited about learning more about reconstructing bones. The synthetic bone activity was so cool and I couldn't imagine how it is in the O.R. I feel like there is a lot of pressure on the doctor who is performing. You also have to be very careful with the tools. If you are to drop one of them then you have to sanitize it and that takes time out of performing the surgery on the patient.
I really think this Internship would be amazing! I really just hope that everything falls in place and works out for me. The only reason why I am a little nervous and discouraged is due to previous experiences with other specialty doctors.
